Territorium Total II

The organization needs a lot of organization. And: the organization needs little organization. It needs a lot of organization because it has to deal with an internal and external environment that is constantly making new demands. And it needs little organization because it constantly has to deal with an internal and external environment.

Territorium Total II is a walk-in diorama that was developed specifically for the Kunstkiosk in the Westpassage Theater, Leipzig. The work poses questions about which forms of work are necessary to maintain a separation between people and the environment. It contains two objects and four photographs.
The ethymological origin of the French term bureau comes from the Latin bure. This refers to a fabric textile that was used in medieval monasteries to make both clothing for monks and tables on which books were copied. What interests me here is the relationship between work and physicality. For the installation, I made clothes out of carpeting used in offices and other workplaces. I also used and painted curd soap - which is made from animal fats left over as waste products from the meat industry: a material made from the embodied other - the animal - to keep our bodies pure, to keep the other away from us.
